Showing Integrated Security Solutions at ISC East 2015

At ISC East 2015, we are highlighting how integrated systems provide powerful solutions for common security concerns while reducing cost and complexity for end users. The interactive display featuring our latest products and systems demonstrates how to protect sensitive areas, manage video and security data, automate functions for easy operation, prevent theft and vandalism, and more.

Attendees will learn how the new G Series Control Panels enhance facility security with intrusion detection, access control and IP camera integration through the Bosch Video Management System. Leveraging the full capabilities of G Series systems enables users to automate functions for simplified operation. For example, by presenting access control credentials, authorized personnel can automatically unlock doors, disarm the intrusion detection system and turn on the lights at a facility.

Integrating the new G Series Control Panels with Bosch IP cameras provides added protection of sensitive areas, such as ATM service rooms, cash offices, pharmacies and more. This allows security personnel to view images of intrusion detection system events, such as a video snapshot to verify the identity of the person who disarmed a critical area. In addition, Bosch IP cameras programmed to alert based on Intelligent Video Analysis events – such as loitering, crossing a perimeter line, or others – can activate points on the security control panel.

Monitoring security data is simplified through the DIVAR IP 3000 all-in-one video management system, which combines a network recorder, storage array, client workstation and integrated Bosch Video Management System software. With this solution, operators can view cameras and control panel status and events on a graphical map, as well as control streams and arm and disarm the panels via the Bosch Video Management System software. Authorized personnel can also view video remotely via mobile devices and tablets, anytime from anywhere.

To prevent theft and vandalism, central monitoring stations equipped with Cloud-based Services from Bosch can monitor facilities via video and provide audio intervention when needed. For example, if motion is detected at a facility when the intrusion detection system is armed, Cloud-based Services enables the central monitoring station to verify the alarm through live and recorded video. If an intruder is at the premises, the operator can communicate that the area is under surveillance.

Customers can benefit from integrated security solutions whether they choose a complete Bosch solution or software from another industry provider. Bosch IP cameras and control panels are compatible with a range of security software solutions from other industry providers. Additional details on the Bosch Integration Partner Program are available at ipp.boschsecurity.com.

Streaming Networks Adds Support for DINION capture 5000 IP License Plate Capture Cameras

Streaming Networks’ iRecord License Plate LPR-100 reads retro-reflective license plates found in the U.S. and Canada. It is powered by the company’s optical character recognition (OCR) engine, allowing it to accurately read plates even when they are improperly aligned, partially hidden by plate frames or have vertically stacked characters. When paired with our DINION capture IP cameras, this license plate recognition system provides customers with greater capabilities for gathering vehicle information as part of their security surveillance infrastructure.

DINION capture 5000 IP cameras deliver consistent, high-quality images of vehicle license plates at speeds up to 140 miles per hour. Using advanced optics, the cameras obtain clear, legible plate images up to 92 feet away, enabling accurate vehicle identification even in low-light conditions or when headlight or sun glare are present. Two DINION capture 5000 IP cameras are support per iRecord License Plate system.

Bosch customers can view the iRecord License Plate LPR-100 webpage GUI in the main window of the Bosch Video Management System (BVMS). This makes it easier for operators to access license plate data to enhance security around perimeters and improve parking management and toll collection.

With BVMS, operators know instantly what is happening in the entire organization. It reduces the complexity of video management, allowing personnel to operate more efficiently and effectively. It can support configurations ranging from a single standalone system to multi-site large-scale enterprise applications with an unlimited number of cameras.

New Dual Path Control Panel Communicator Lowers Costs for Fire or Intrusion Alarm Systems

The B465 Universal Dual Path Communicator enables dialer-based fire or intrusion control panels to use modern IP or cellular communication formats. With the new communicator, end users can eliminate expenses associated with up to two dedicated telephone line connections per control panel, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership for fire or intrusion alarm systems.

The B465 Universal Dual Path Communicator links a control panel’s digital dialer to an Ethernet connection on a local area or wide area network or to an optional cellular module to send reports to the central station receiver. By replacing dedicated phone lines with cellular communication, the dealer or integrator can create a new reoccurring revenue stream for data service plans, while still reducing monthly costs for the end user.

The communicator is compatible with fire or intrusion control panels from Bosch and other manufacturers as it supports multiple communication formats – including CONTACT ID, SIA and pulse – as well as three options for powering the device. These features allow dealers and integrators to easily and cost-effectively upgrade a wide range of systems. A future-proof solution, the B465 is the only dual path communicator with support for IPv6 and an interface for plug-in cellular modules, which ensures the user’s investment is protected even as communication technology changes.

For end-to-end security and enhanced safety over solutions from other manufacturers, the B465 Communicator acknowledges a signal only after it is received by the Bosch receiver at the central monitoring station. This unique feature provides added peace of mind for users as they are assured that any possible life safety or security risks have been communicated and received.

The B465 Universal Dual Path Communicator meets NFPA 72 standards (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code 2013 Edition). For more approval and certification information and for further details on the new communicator, visit http://bit.ly/1PB19JQ

BIM Files for Bosch Products

We are now providing Building Information Modeling (BIM) files for parts of our product range.  Building Information Modeling is a method used to digitally plan, design, construct and operate buildings and infrastructure in a virtual space.

With Building Information Modeling, all building data are digitized and networked. This greatly facilitates the planning of a building for all professionals involved in a construction project. If within the virtual building model a change is made by one of the project planners, these alterations are immediately visible to all the professionals involved, from the design team to the main contractor and subcontractors to the owner or operator, since all teams share the same data and work from a single, shared 3D model. When a modification is made in one building section, the effects on all other sections are calculated and shown in real-time; the complete building and construction data are immediately updated and aligned.

Modifications in the floor plan, for example, can change the number of video cameras necessary for monitoring a building. If those changes are made using BIM, the number of video cameras needed is automatically adjusted to the modified floor plan. In this way, all project partners immediately see the effect that modification has on the overall planning and total budget. This helps to greatly simplify the workflow and alignment of all involved professional teams, shortens the planning phase and reduces costs.

We're supporting Building Information Modeling and will provide architects, building designers, engineers and contractors with free BIM files, starting with our IP video cameras. This data will make it possible to simulate a camera’s field of view in the 3D model, which improves design efficiency in planning a security solution. Gradually, we'll enlarge our offering of BIM files to include more products, such as smoke detectors.

We'll offer our first BIM files in RFA (Autodesk Revit) format for free download from www.boschsecurity.com/BIM

Check out the MIC IP 7000 HD Camera at the 2015 Power Grid Resilience Summit

At the 2015 Power Grid Resilience Summit, September 1-3 in San Diego, security consultancy, The Security Oracle, Inc. (TSO), will display a MIC IP 7000 HD ruggedized PTZ camera as a part of a suite of technology that comprises its Remotely Controlled Active Defense and Denial System (RCADS™).

In June 2014, TSO presented this scalable, turnkey Non-Lethal Threat-Based Systems Approach to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Edison Electric Institute (EEI) in Washington, DC. "RCADS™ is a patent pending force-multiplying system that enables grid-connected owners and operators to effectively and affordably comply with NERC CIP 014," says Charles Butler, CPP, CEO, TSO, Inc., and former EEI Security Committee Member. "This Threat-Based Systems Approach transforms current passive grid security into an affordable active defense and denial physical protection system that will 'Protect Against Attacks' as required."

When a threat is detected, RCADS™ can be used to remotely intercept and overpower an adversary with safe, yet debilitating light and sound beams from the safety of a security operations center prior to any significant damage occurring to site infrastructure. As a result, local law enforcement or security forces will have far more time to respond and successfully interdict the adversary.

"The MIC IP 7000 HD ruggedized PTZ was specifically selected due to its exceptionally quick and pin-point accurate slew-to-cue and long range visual object acquisition capabilities," said Lloyd Uliana, Business Development Engineer for Bosch. "Its extensive use in extreme operational environments, its integration with Safety Dynamics, Inc.'s SENTRI Gunshot Detection and Localization Platform, and its pending cryptographic technology developed by SecureXperts, Inc., that makes the camera resilient against cyber attack, ensure that the MIC IP 7000 HD is the ideal imaging platform for the protection of critical infrastructure in high risk environments."

New AUTODOME IP 4000 and IP 5000 Cameras

With the launch of the new AUTODOME IP 4000 and AUTODOME IP 5000 models, we're extending our family of PTZ cameras. These cameras help to locate, track and zoom in on details providing relevant information that enables operators to react instantly and make accurate decisions.
They add precise identification of objects of interest over large distances and hands-on control to all kinds of video surveillance solutions. Typical applications are large retail stores, shopping malls, convention centers and casinos where it is of utmost importance that security personnel are enabled to clearly see what is happening and to react instantly to suspicious situations.

Complete range to meet every need and budget
The AUTODOME IP family offers a comprehensive range of PTZ cameras, ranging from the AUTODOME IP 4000 HD indoor model right up to high end models such as the AUTODOME IP starlight 7000 HD which includes IVA technology as standard. All models are available in 720p or full HD 1080p resolution. The AUTODOME IP 4000 HD camera, with its discreet dome housing, is designed to perfectly blend into the interior design of various applications and can identify objects of interest up to 95 meters away in full HD, thanks to its 12x optical zoom capabilities. When there is a need to cover a larger area both indoor and outdoor, the AUTODOME IP 5000 HD is ideal. Full pan and tilt control with the 30x optical zoom capabilities enable identification of objects of interest up to 190 meters away in full HD. For low light conditions, the AUTODOME IP 5000 IR camera ensures visibility up to 150 meters even in complete darkness. Its built-in intelligent IR beam ensures optimum illumination of objects regardless of the level of zoom. With superior privacy masking, the AUTODOME IP 5000 models safeguard the privacy of individuals when monitoring public spaces.

Built-in intelligence ensuring perfect exposure and lowest network strain
The AUTODOME IP cameras feature Intelligent Defog to considerably improve the camera's visibility when viewing foggy or other low contrast scenes. Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction reduces bitrates by up to 50 percent to significantly reduce storage costs and network strain. Since excess noise is reduced at the source during image capture, the lower bitrates do not compromise the video quality. Local storage inside the camera further enhances network performance by compensating for short network outages, ensuring that video data is continuously available in Video Recording Manager (VRM) systems.

Since security managers cannot be in the control room all the time, the AUTODOME IP cameras fully support Dynamic Transcoding technology, which – in combination with the Video Security app – provides 24/7 remote access to camera controls, live video streams, recordings and HD images from anywhere, regardless of available bandwidth. That is because Dynamic Transcoding automatically adjusts the bitrate to the available bandwidth to ensure smooth video streaming; when the video is paused at an incident, a full HD still image is shown instantly. To gain all benefits of Dynamic Transcoding, simply expand the IP video surveillance system with either a DIVAR IP recording solution or the VIDEOJET XTC.

Our IP standard-definition and high-definition cameras, encoders and analytics work seamlessly with a wide range of security software and recording solutions. This is backed by ONVIF conformance and the Integration Partner Program (IPP), which gives developers immediate access to software development tools to easily integrate Bosch products with third-party systems. Further details of the Bosch Integration Partner Program are available at ipp.boschsecurity.com.

New EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX Cameras for Hazardous Environments

The EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX is a new family of explosion-proof IP cameras developed for safe operation in hazardous environments. Whether it is exceptionally hot or cold (-50° to +60° Celsius), the lighting conditions are extremely poor, the monitored objects are far away, or there is a high level of moisture or dust, the new EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX cameras deliver the highest quality of security relevant images. They are specifically designed and certified to operate in potentially volatile environments with the assurance that they will not cause an explosion. This makes them the camera of choice where gases, vapors, dust, or clouds escape during the production of flammable substances. EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX cameras are ideal for use in industries like oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer, and pharmaceutical.

Capturing relevant details in the extreme
EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX cameras are ATEX and IECEX certified for safe operation in hazardous environments. They are tested according to the IEC standard EN50130-5 for continuous and safe operation in surroundings with temperature ranges from -50° to +60° Celsius (-58° to 140° Fahrenheit). Overall quality and safety are further assured by the cameras’ CSA and IEC 60950-1 certifications. For use in caustic environments, like offshore sites or chemical plants, the new camera family offers a stainless steel version. Both the stainless steel and aluminum housings are IP68 and NEMA 6P certified and resistant to corrosion and high levels of moisture and dust. EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX products feature a 30x optical zoom with autofocus, which enables the operator to remotely configure the field of view to detect objects at distances from nine to 700 meters (2,296 ft). The cameras can be powered over Ethernet (HiPoE) or 24 Volt, ensuring continuous availability in the event that one of these power supplies should fail.

The EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX family consists of two models. In extreme low light situations, the EXTEGRA IP starlight 9000 FX camera excels by delivering HD video images and easily capturing fast moving objects at 720p HD resolution and up to 60 frames per second. It continues to provide video images where other cameras fail, even down to 0.0103 lux. Similarly, clear HD images are captured in full color right down to 0.052 lux – when other cameras switch to monochrome.

Should the application demand maximum resolution for optimum identification of objects in high contrast scenes, the second model, EXTEGRA IP dynamic 9000 FX is the perfect choice providing full HD 1080p resolution. Since the EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX cameras are made for safe operation in hazardous environments, Bosch has specifically designed these two cameras to be heavy duty, yet easy to install and maintain. Configuration and firmware can be updated remotely to simplify initial set-up and minimize service visits.

Onboard technologies add sense and structure
The EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX family is equipped with key technologies from Bosch to deliver the highest image quality, network performance and reliability. Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction (IDNR) cuts storage costs and significantly lowers network strain by reducing bitrate by up to 50 percent. Since excess noise is reduced at the source during image capture, the lower bitrate does not compromise video quality. Local storage inside the camera further enhances network performance by compensating for short network outages, ensuring that video data is continuously available in Video Recording Manager (VRM) systems. In addition, built-in Intelligent Video Analysis (IVA) offers a full suite of 16 IVA alarm algorithms, helping the operator to focus on relevant situations by alerting only when needed. IVA also ensures quick retrieval of the correct data from hours of stored video by using metadata to add sense and structure to the video at the time of capture in the camera. The EXTEGRA IP 9000 FX family fully supports Dynamic Transcoding technology from Bosch, enabling operators, in combination with the Video Security app, to use mobile devices to access camera controls, live video streams, recordings, and HD images from anywhere, regardless of available bandwidth. It continuously ensures an extremely efficient transfer of HD images over low-bandwidth connections.

Bosch IP high definition cameras, encoders, and analytics work seamlessly with a wide range of security software and recording solutions from Bosch and many other leading vendors. This is backed by ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) conformance and the Integration Partner Program (IPP). This program gives developers immediate access to software development tools so they can easily integrate Bosch products with third-party systems. The new B9512G G Series Control Panel has won the Best in Intrusion Detection and Prevention Solutions award in the Security Industry Association’s (SIA) 2015 New Product Showcase (NPS) program during the recent ISC West exposition in Las Vegas. This annual awards program recognizes innovative products and solutions in electronic physical security.

Our most powerful control panel yet, the B9512G provides an integrated security solution for large commercial applications. It is approved for combination burglar and fire alarm applications and features integrated access control, direct IP camera control as well as integration with Z-Wave devices to enable automation capabilities. Users also benefit from integration with the Bosch Video Management System and a free app that provides remote system control and video viewing. The B9512G offers complete security with a low total cost of ownership and easy operation.
“This award recognizes the new G Series for its innovative capabilities that set it apart from other security control panel offerings available today,” said Falk Herrmann, Vice President – Intrusion Systems Business Unit. “These include comprehensive integration of security and automation functions. Features such as a free app and flexible programming help dealers create new recurring monthly revenue streams, while future-proof technologies like a dual plug-in communication interface or IPv6 support provide a strong competitive advantage.”
Featuring significantly greater capacity than existing G Series models, the B9512G meets the requirements of a wide range of applications including office buildings, retail stores, banks, schools, government facilities, and more. It supports up to 2,000 users, 599 points, 32 areas, 32 doors, and 16 IP cameras.
“Each year, the companies competing in SIA’s New Product Showcase at ISC West present the leading-edge security solutions that are shaping the industry,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “These new technologies and solutions are the drivers that are moving the security industry forward, and I congratulate Bosch Security Systems on their win at this year’s NPS.”
The NPS is held in conjunction with the ISC West International Security Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas—one of the largest gatherings of security industry professionals. NPS was established in 1979 to recognize innovative products, services and solutions in electronic physical security. Technologies showcased through this program are used in the protection of life and property in residential, commercial and institutional settings.

Protecting the Protectors: Cyber Hygiene for Physical Security

Tuesday, April 14, 2015
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Sands Room 304

Cyber security events are not entirely preventable, yet experts in the cyber security field suggest that a significant risk of cyber incursions could be substantially mitigated if enterprises engaged in good “cyber hygiene.” These best practices are often well-known, simple common sense approaches that should be a part of an enterprise culture. Learn how to reduce risk to your network and enterprise by identifying the most common sources of risk and exposure that can be prevented by effective cyber hygiene.

Darnell Washington, President/Chief Executive Officer, SecureXperts
David Brent, Technical Information Engineer IT Systems, Bosch Security Systems

Gunshot Recognition Analytics: Delivering Actionable Information to Law Enforcement and First Responders
Wednesday, April 15, 2015
1:45 PM - 2:45 PM
Sands Room 307

The April 2013 attack on a Pacific Gas and Energy substation in San Jose, CA exposed the vulnerability of the nation’s electric power grid to vandalism and disruption. Captured on surveillance video, snipers opened fire on the substation for more than 19 minutes. By the time police arrived, the adversaries were gone. In that time, they knocked out 17 transformers that supply power to Silicon Valley. Replicated across the country, incidents such as these could take down the U.S. grid and black out much of the country bringing the economic, social and political fabric of the country to its knees.

Predicting these events is impossible and we may not be able to prevent them, but current technology exists to minimize the damage. This session explores the use of gunshot recognition technology that immediately provides actionable intelligence to first responders so they may reduce the time a shooter has to act and minimize casualties.

Speakers:
Sally Fernandez, President, Safety Dynamics, Inc.
Darnell Washington, President/Chief Executive Officer, SecureXperts
Charles Butler, CEO, The Security Oracle
Lloyd Uliana, Business Development Engineer - A&E, Bosch Security Systems

Expanded Certification for Lenel NVR and OnGuard

We've received factory certification from Lenel Systems International for interfacing our IP cameras with the Lenel® Network Video Recorder (NVR) 7.1. Operators can view live and recorded video from Bosch IP cameras using Lenel NVR 7.1 and can control and configure the cameras from within the Lenel OnGuard® access control system. In addition, the ruggedized MIC IP 7000 HD PTZ cameras have been newly certified.
“Bosch has completed required factory testing at Lenel to validate the functionality of its interface to the Lenel NVR 7.1,” said Gidon Lissai, director of strategic alliances, Lenel. “By expanding the number of IP video devices supported by the Lenel NVR, Bosch is keeping pace with our ongoing product enhancements. We look forward to their continued involvement in the Lenel OpenAccess Alliance Program.”
With the certification of the MIC IP 7000 HD, you now have an option for HD imaging in difficult outdoor locations and other challenging environments. The MIC cameras combine high-quality HD imaging with an IP68/NEMA 6P-rated IP architecture. They withstand harsh conditions including rain, snow, high wind gusts, significant vibration and temperatures that range from -40 to +60 degrees Celsius.

These cameras, as well as the extensive portfolio of our IP cameras certified with Lenel NVR 7.1, feature Content Based Imaging Technology (CBIT) to tailor camera settings to scene contents. Depending on movement and varying light intensity, the camera settings are continuously and dynamically adjusted to ensure optimal exposure of objects of interest while reducing bit rate by up to 50%. As a result, storage costs and network strain are reduced significantly without compromising video quality.
“We work diligently to ensure our products are certified with the latest versions of Lenel systems. This enables customers to take advantage of new facility management features from Lenel and imaging advancements from Bosch that aid in improving overall security,” said Brad Eck, integration manager, North America, for Bosch. “Interfacing our detailed video streams with Lenel NVR gives OnGuard platform users the visual information they need to understand circumstances surrounding events in the system, which, in turn, helps them respond more accurately and efficiently.”
For a complete list of products certified for the OnGuard access control system and the Lenel NVR, visit the Integration Partner Program portal at ipp.boschsecurity.com.
